COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Stonewall gives last push with petition to repeal Section 28

Stonewall has launched a final attempt to persuade the Government to repeal Section 28 with the support of London nightclub G-A-Y.

The organisation has described the campaign, Let's Nail Section 28, as "one of the largest petition and postcard campaigns against homophobic bigots".

Stonewall is hoping to attract volunteers to persuade clubbers to sign an anti-Section 28 petition as they enter nightclubs.

The awareness drive comes a month before the final debate on the Local Government Bill, which includes a provision to eliminate Section 28.

This section prohibits local authorities in England and Wales from "promoting" homosexuality. It also labels gay family relationships as "pretend".
