COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: TimeBank sets up volunteer scheme for BSkyB workers

Timebank is starting its first co-ordinated corporate volunteering scheme. The charity is working with the Prince's Trust, the Local Education Business Partnership and the Community Channel to provide volunteering opportunities for BSkyB employees in England and Scotland.

"Corporate volunteering is one of the most tangible ways of making corporate social responsibility real because it links companies to local charitable networks," said Andrew Dick, head of campaigns at Timebank.

There are 300 employees registered on the scheme, in Isleworth, Livingston (West Lothian) and Dunfirmline. Timebank has built a website for BSkyB employees to access advice and suggestions on volunteering opportunities and to help organise events.
