Communications News: Woman launches a website for female victims of violence

A campaigner has single-handedly launched a website to support female victims of violence.

Dee Golder created the site, bushtelegraph.uk.com, last month to encourage voluntary action such as marches and petitions ahead of the United Nations' 16 days of action to eliminate gender-based violence.

The campaign begins with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November and ends with the International Human Rights Day on 16 December.

Golder said the site receives around 50 hits a day, and has links to around 50 charity websites.

"Women's Aid deals with domestic violence," said Golder. "But this site tries to encompass all the hidden violence against women that goes largely unnoticed."
