Community Channel puts up £14,000 for first UK Giving Week

The Community Channel is getting behind the UK's first National Giving Week by giving away £14,000 for viewers to donate to charities of their choosing.

A winner will be announced for each day of the week-long campaign, which starts on Monday, and the Charities Aid Foundation will administer each day's £2,000 award. The money can be given to one or several charities at the winner's discretion, and the competition can be entered at www.communitychannel.org or by telephoning 0870 505500.

The week is the first of its kind to promote tax-effective and payroll giving in the UK (Third Sector, 6 October). CAF is targeting national newspapers, TV and radio stations with publicity about ways the public can support the work of charities.

The Community Channel is screening five promotions specially commissioned by CAF during the week, featuring individuals talking about what makes them give.
