Community Fund offers £16m to UK charities overseas

The Community Fund has launched a £16 million international grants programme for UK charities working abroad.

The fund has already awarded nearly £130 million to voluntary organisations working abroad but this will be the first continuous grants programme and there will be no closing date for applications.

The programme represents 6 per cent of the fund's total grant budget.

The programme is open to organisations working with disadvantaged people in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Central and Eastern Europe.

Funding priorities are primary education, community health, natural resources and political rights - following the UN's International Development Targets.
