Conference to focus on future of legacies

The Institute of Fundraising is to examine the effect of the economic downturn on legacies at a conference in December.

The Legacy Fundraising Conference will hear the views of Chris Farmelo, an economist and the director of research body Legacy Foresight, on recent trends in legacy income and whether charities will experience "economic doom and gloom or legacy boom".

The conference, in its fourth year, will also be addressed by Alex McDowell, legacy marketing manager at the NSPCC, on creating a climate of confidence in legacy fundraising. The NSPCC has developed a simplified language around legacies so all fundraisers feel comfortable in having conversations with donors.

The conference takes place at the Royal Society in central London on 10 December.
