Consultation on revised fundraisers standards
The Workforce Hub and the Institute of Fundraising have launched a consultation on the revised national occupational standards for fundraisers, which include new standards for grant fundraising, corporate fundraising, major gifts and direct marketing.
The new standards, which spell out what is required to reach a nationally recognised level of competence in particular jobs, have been redesigned by the hub to reflect more closely the reality of fundraisers’ roles. They also stipulate relevant academic knowledge for the first time.
Carrick Allison, director of professional development at the Institute of Fundraising, said it was important that as many people as possible took part in the consultation because the institute's certificate in fundraising management would also be revised in the light of the new standards.
“This review gives all fundraisers, whether they are volunteers or paid professionals, the opportunity to directly influence the direction of fundraising standards throughout the United Kingdom,” she said.
The consultation runs until 31 October.
