Convention board elects new chair

Russell Thompson, director of national events and fundraising at the Royal British Legion, was elected chair of the Institute of Fundraising Convention Board at the institute's annual general meeting yesterday.

He succeeds Gill Raikes, director of fundraising at the National Trust, who steps down after three years.
Paul Amadi, group director of fundraising at the RNIB, was re-elected as a trustee and will succeed Joe Saxton, founder of think tank nfpSynergy, as chair of the institute.

Gerry Beldon, former chair of the north east region-al group, and Stephen Pidgeon, chair of Tangible Response, were elected to the board for the first time.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have such a quality field of candidates," said Lindsay Boswell, chief executive of the institute.
