Cookery coach

Barnardo's hopes to raise £500,000 from the proceeds of a celebrity cookbook that contains the favourite recipes of footballers and presenters involved in Euro 2004. England coach Sven Goran Eriksson heads a list of contributors that includes seven squad members for the tournament, which starts this weekend. Eriksson opts for spaghetti with tomato and basil, while comedian Frank Skinner extols the virtues of the more English steak and kidney sandwich, which he describes as "gooey".

Other celebrities include presenters Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan and Des Lynam, who says: "I love making spaghetti with clams and baby tomatoes, but the kitchen gets in a real mess". The book is available for £5 at the charity's online shop at www.barnardos.org.uk/shop.
