Corrie star leads PDSA Gift Aid campaign

Veterinary charity PDSA has launched a Gift Aid campaign fronted by Coronation Street's Sue Nicholls.

The actor, who plays Audrey Roberts in the long-running ITV soap, will help the charity promote Gift Aid on donations in a bid to hit a fundraising target of £700,000 in tax rebates by the end of the year.

When they give items to one of PDSA’s 182 shops, donors who pay tax in the UK will be invited to sign Gift Aid forms. When their goods are sold, PDSA will contact the relevant donor, tell them how much has been raised from the sale and confirm that the donor is happy for the charity to benefit from the donation, allowing PDSA to claim 28 per cent extra from the taxman.

Nicholls said: “All you need to do is bring us your donations – provided you’re a UK taxpayer, you can sign up for Gift Aid straight away.”
