CRUK director joins the Sorp Committee

Lynne Robb, chief financial officer and executive director of resources at Cancer Research UK, has joined the Sorp Committee.

Robb replaces Claire Newton, finance director of Marie Curie, who is leaving the sector.

The committee, which was launched in 2006 by the Charity Commission and the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, works to review the accounting and reporting recommendations for UK charities (Third Sector, 30 August 2006).

Andrew Hind, chief executive of the Charity Commission and chair of the committee, said: “Robb’s experience, breadth of knowledge and familiarity with the challenges facing the sector will be invaluable.”

The appointment follows the announcement by the Charity Commission and the OSCR that the Sorp Committee will be more professional and representative of the sector (Third Sector, 22 November).

Kirsty Gray, deputy chair of the committee, said: “It is vital that the Sorp Committee reflects the diversity of our sector and is up to speed on sector developments and concerns. Lynne joins us at an important time and will make a major contribution to our dialogue with stakeholders.”
