Diabetes UK has launched a new awareness campaign that targets both the public and key decision-makers within the Government and the NHS. The campaign features four press and poster ads showing separate diabetic complications - heart disease, blindness, amputation and death.
The ads will appear in national, consumer and specialist healthcare press and in rail and bus stations across the country. Benet Middleton, director of policy and communications at Diabetes UK, said: "These are facts that must be told in order to raise the stakes around diabetes and make it the health priority it should be.
The campaign follows Diabetes UK's involvement in a series of Channel 4 programmes and short films. The programmes tackled issues including serious problems within the NHS in coping with diabetes.
