CVS merger plan in Warwickshire

Five councils for voluntary service and one volunteer centre in Warwickshire look set to merge to create a county-wide organisation.

The organisations, Warwick District, North Warwickshire, Rugby, Nuneaton & Bedworth and Stratford CVSs and Rugby Volunteer Centre, have set up a shadow board and are expected to make a final decision on whether to merge by the end of the year.

Stephen Nightingale, chief officer at Warwick District CVS but seconded to lead on the merger, said the move was motivated by a desire to improve services under the ChangeUp infrastructure programme. "The intention is that we want to see these six infrastructure organisations delivering both CVS and volunteer centre functions," he said.
