Riddle, from Knock, Aberdeenshire, did the jump to raise money for the RNID. She has also bungee-jumped, paraglided, climbed a volcano and white-water rafted on a trip to Australia and New Zealand.

“I love having a go at all kinds of so-called ‘terrifying’ activities,” she said. “I encourage everyone to think about what they can do in life and urge anyone looking for a fantastic, breath-taking experience to just give skydiving a go.”

Caroline Jupe, events and community fundraising executive for the RNID, said: “Barbara’s positive attitude is an inspiration to people of all ages. We’re so lucky to have such a real-life action hero helping to change the world for deaf and hard of hearing people.”
