Dimbleby charity grows subsidiary

The Richard Dimbleby Cancer Fund, the research-focused charity chaired by broadcaster David Dimbleby, has launched a subsidiary to raise funds for care of cancer patients and their families.

It is hoped that Dimbleby Cancer Care will pour £1m into researching how patients and carers can best be supported throughout the illness.

The charity says "only a small proportion of UK cancer research spending goes on the Cinderella discipline of supportive and palliative care".

David Dimbleby said: "We hope this will attract urgently needed funds for this vital work."
