Disabled focus

This picture by David Stephenson from Cockermouth, Cumbria, was the winning entry in the nature category for over-18s in this year's Freedom in Focus amateur photography competition for disabled people. The competition, organised by disability charity Leonard Cheshire and Disability Now magazine, attracted nearly 400 entrants. The judges were disabled actress Julie Fernandez, best known as Brenda in TV comedy The Office, Mike Birkbeck, of the Disabled Photographers Society, and Angie Tymkow, community relations manager of Barclays, which gave £17,000 to fund the competition. Ann McMeekin, 26, of London won the modern life category. The winners received £500 cash and £200 towards a photography course.
