DTI investigates fundraising firm

Helen Warrell

A professional fundraising company is in provisional liquidation after it was investigated by a branch of the Department of Trade & Industry.

Drawtreat Limited, which is based in Warrington, Cheshire, was a fundraising firm that collected money from small and medium-sized enterprises for a range of charitable, benevolent and philanthropic purposes.

The DTI submitted a High Court petition to wind up Drawtreat "in the public interest".

The move follows an inquiry by the Companies Investigation Branch, an executive agency of the DTI's insolvency service.

The case is now subject to High Court action, and all enquiries concerning the company's affairs should be made to the official receiver. The petition will be heard on 30 October.
