Durham professor will compose brief for research centre

The Office of the Third Sector has appointed professor Ian Stone, a professorial fellow at Durham Business School, to establish a more detailed brief of the scope of the new independent third sector research centre.

The centre was announced in the third sector review in July. The centre's broad remit and objectives were outlined as gathering and commissioning evidence about the scale of the third sector and its contribution to society. The OTS put out a tender in September for a consultant to establish a more detailed brief for the research centre.

The OTS is also seeking the sector's views on how the centre could contribute to its work and further the cause of the voluntary sector. Anyone wishing to comment or make recommendations has until 19 November to do so.
