DWP events target potential welfare-to-work bidders

Small charities invited to talks and networking sessions

The Department for Work and Pensions and the Office of the Third Sector are holding two events for small organisations that are interested in getting involved in delivering the Government's welfare-to-work programmes.

Organisations from all sectors are invited to attend the events, which will take place on 8 September at Newcastle United Football Club and 9 September at the Park Plaza Riverbank hotel in London.

The events are aimed at organisations interested in becoming subcontractors and will cover topics such as the role of prime providers and subcontractors.

Last month the DWP announced the shortlist of bidders for its Work Choice programme, which helps people with disabilities to find employment. Voluntary organisations such as Leonard Cheshire Disability, the Shaw Trust and Scope were among the successful bidders.

Representatives from some of the shortlisted organisations will join delegates at the events for networking sessions.
