Ethical concerns over male escort

John Plummer

A male escort is trying to woo punters by offering to donate a share of his earnings to a children's charity.

The man, advertising as Ken of Liverpool, leafleted shops in Chester saying he would give 10 per cent of his takings to Claire House children's hospice in Wirral.

The charity is keen to contact him to discover whether his offer is serious and why he hasn't contacted them.

"I know nothing abut this person and he has no authority to fundraise for us," said head of fundraising Janet Croker.

She admitted the vagaries of Ken's profession would pose a moral dilemma for the hospice if he did come forward.

"If he is a bona fide male escort, then what's wrong with that, but if he's actually selling sex then no, we wouldn't accept money," she said.

Ken was not answering telephone calls as Third Sector went to press.
