Euro fundraising qualification unveiled

The European Fundraising Association will unveil the first Europe-wide fundraising qualification at the International Fundraising Congress in the Netherlands next month.

The EFA qualification is equivalent to the Institute of Fundraising's certificate in fundraising management and was based on UK and German fundraising standards.

"We hope this will mean there is an EU fundraising employment zone in which anyone within the EU can work in the UK, and vice versa," said Lindsay Boswell, chief executive of the Institute of Fundraising. "We are hoping this will encourage the internationalisation of fundraising.

"A common European qualification is a key move in ensuring consistency of standards across Europe."

The EFA will also accredit qualifications run in European countries. The institute has submitted its own certificate in fundraising for validation.
