Excellence in Volunteer Management programme may close

Volunteering England to review funding for training scheme

Volunteering England is considering closing its Excellence in Volunteer Management programme, which runs seminars and e-learning services for volunteer managers.

The organisation will review its funding of the project, which provides modular learning programmes for volunteer managers.

The scheme was designed as an affordable way of offering guidance and training to volunteer managers to improve their effectiveness through face-to-face teaching, distance learning and one-to-one coaching.

Volunteering England took over the funding of the scheme last year after its two-year grant from infrastructure quango Capacitybuilders ran out.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "The programme and delivery model is being reviewed. We remain committed to supporting and developing those who manage volunteers."
