Excellent, I've won some excrement

Horse lovers who don't like their neigh-bours will be champing at the bit to enter a charity raffle in which the star prize is a year's supply of horse manure.

The precious dung will be up for grabs at Bristol-based horse charity HorseWorld’s annual fundraising raffle.

“I understand horse manure is great for people who grow their own vegetables and also for people with roses,” said Jess Winchester, fundraising and communications manager for the charity. “We have also had some other great prizes donated, such as a four-night luxury UK holiday.”

Consolation prizes also include a washing machine, a family portrait session, a family ticket to ride the Avon Valley Railway and a behind-the-scenes tour of Bath Theatre Royal.

Winchester said she hoped the raffle, which is one of HorseWorld’s main annual fundraising events, would raise more than last year’s total of £4,000. Tickets cost £1 and can be bought from the charity’s website. The prize draw takes place just in time for Christmas on 19 December.
