Staff at a National Trust for Scotland property yesterday told of their surprise after receiving a visit from the Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
The stars turned up on Monday at The Hill House, a 1902 property in Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire, that was designed by the architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
They had booked a private tour under a pseudonym.
A National Trust for Scotland spokesman said a member of staff had approached Pitt because his car was blocking the entrance to the house, before realising who he was.
He said the employee asked whether he was really Brad Pitt, to which the actor replied: "Some days I am and some days I’m not."
The spokesman said he was not sure whether the couple had made a donation to the charity."But they did buy quite a lot in the gift shop," he said.
He added that Pitt and Jolie had enjoyed mugs of tea with staff and a private tour of the property.
The couple are staying in Glasgow while Pitt films World War Z, a new movie about zombies.
