Westward Ho! is the only place name in the UK with an exclamation mark, and there's a strong case that the charity Save Sweetie Now, which has just joined the Charity Commission's register, should be afforded the same punctuation. It's a charity for children and young people, in case you were wondering.
Also joining the register this month is Bathtub 2 Boardroom, which is not a charity for late-running trustees but one set up to educate people in business and entrepreneurship.
And it's good to report that after all these years Space has finally been afforded charitable status. But don't think that the regulator has been convinced of the public benefit of the apparently endless expanse surrounding planet Earth – it's the name of a charity for children with additional needs.
Notable departures from the register this month include the Dawn Disaster Awareness Worldwide Network, which presumably got caught out by a surfeit of emergencies at other times of the day, the Sonic Trust, which has gone boom, and Wash My Pink Jumper, which must have finally raised enough funds for a trip to the laundrette.
