Facebook has launched a new tool in the UK that enables people to raise money online.

Personal Fundraisers allows people to raise money through desktops or mobiles for themselves, for friends or for someone or a cause that is not online.

Anyone over 18 can fundraise across categories including education, medical, animal, crisis relief, personal emergency, funeral and loss, community, and sports. To start personal fundraising, users on desktop can go to the the Fundraisers page, while mobile users can tap the menu icon and select Fundraisers.

In a statement, Facebook said: "Personal Fundraisers will make it simple for people to connect with their communities and raise money for the people and things they care about. People can now create a fundraiser on Facebook and easily reach their friends in a few taps with the relevant information."
