Did you aspire to be an accountant? I studied economics at university but didn't know what to do afterwards. I saw accountancy as an ideal training to go into business and I've been an accountant ever since.

What is the hardest part of your job? The constant deadlines are a big issue. Dogs Trust has also grown rapidly, which has brought challenges and made everyone's job more difficult.

Are you an animal lover? Yes, dogs in particular. I grew up with them and have always owned some. My sons also adore dogs and we have a retriever called Snoopy. It's a breed that is very good with children.

Do you ever have dogs in the office? Snoopy stays at home but there are five or six dogs in the office today. They're well behaved, but if a new dog comes in they might become more raucous. You have to be careful if there's an open buffet - and watch where you leave your sandwiches.

Are you a fan of spreadsheets? They are a necessary evil. They are the only way I know to keep track of the future - to show what will happen if you do this or that.
