Why did you choose finance as a career? After a business background providing software solutions to the hospitality industry, I found it a natural path. I am also involved with the fundraising and project planning. All the elements gel together to make my job fantastic.

What made you work in the charity sector? After a hectic life in the corporate world, I moved to the country when I first had my daughter. After a couple of years I came across the charity Cued Speech. I very quickly saw that all my skills could be put to good use for the charity, with the added bonus that it was all for helping others.

What do you do outside work? My "side hustle" is that of a fitness instructor. I teach Les Mills body pump classes and body conditioning. I enjoy walking my dog: it always amazes me how many people you meet and end up idly chatting to.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career/life so far? Gosh, there are so many people along my life and work journey, so I couldn’t possibly choose one. I just love sitting opposite my work colleague Debbie, with whom I’ve worked for the past 10 years now. She’s made me smile and laugh every day.

If you were charities minister for the day, what one thing would you do? I would say a big "thank you" to all the sector's workers, especially those who volunteer their time just to make a positive difference to the life of others.

Are you optimistic for the future of the charity sector? I am, totally, but charities will have to keep ahead of their game in the digital world.
