Film opportunity for groups outside London

The Media Trust is encouraging charities outside London to apply to its latest Volunteer Films programme, which offers small charities the chance to have their own broadcast-quality short films made by media professionals.

The films, which are guaranteed airtime on the Community Channel, are aimed at helping organisations with annual turnovers of less than £2m to raise awareness or recruit volunteers who are disabled, over 25, from BME groups or lacking formal qualifications.

The trust is particularly looking for innovative charities from outside London, or national charities with regional centres, so that the films are not all centred on the capital.

Each charity will have to pay £1,000 towards the cost of their film, which will be produced in a version suitable for streaming on the internet. The trust is also offering free advice on how to make sure the films achieve maximum impact.

For more information, contact the Volunteer Film Unit on 020 7874 7640 or email The deadline is 8 October and films will be made later this year.
