A venture philanthropy charity that provides business advice to expanding or merging charities has teamed up with a recruitment company in a bid to broaden its network of expert advisers.
The Impetus Trust has joined with Directorbank, a firm that finds specialised directors for management buy-outs and buy-ins in the private equity sector.
Under the terms of the agreement, Impetus will have access to Directorbank's register of 2,500 directors who have expressed interest in advising on private equity deals. Directorbank believes many of these directors are also keen to use their expertise to help charities.
Impetus helps charities grow through long-term funding, help with capacity building and management support.
Daniela Barone Soares, chief executive of Impetus, said the trust filled an important gap in charitable funding. "We invest only where we can help a charity achieve a step change through rapid growth, turnaround or merger," she said. "Directorbank can help us to find the calibre of director skills to help charities achieve significant change. Its support will be invaluable."
Elizabeth Jackson, chief executive of Directorbank, said that the company's candidates had an "outstanding track record" in creating shareholder value. "This skill and experience will be ideal in helping Impetus in its own approach to helping charities," she said. "We believe this will be a real win-win for all of us."
