FINANCE NEWS: Breckell chosen as chairman of Charity Finance Directors

Paul Breckell, the 32 year-old finance director of the Church Mission Society, has been chosen as chairman of the Charity Finance Directors' Group.

Breckell was elected at the group's board meeting on 9 September. He succeeds Geoff Miller, the former finance director of the British Red Cross.

The group's director Shirley Scott said: "We are looking forward to working with Paul who has the energy and the vision to take the group forward in its development."

Breckell is a graduate in charity management and has called for annual reports to explode the myth of charity inefficiency.

He said: "I think we can take CFDG to the next level, taking on a larger public policy role and offering a real voice for finance directors at a time of increasing scrutiny."
