King and Shaxson, the investment management firm, has opened a new ethical fund for cautious investors.

The Ethical Balanced Income Fund will reduce the risk of capital loss associated with ethical products by investing in a range of assets that include shares, fixed-income securities, commercial property and cash.

Jupiter Asset Management's head of socially responsible investment, Emma Howard Boyd, has joined the Government's Commission on Environmental Markets and Economic Performance. The commission was set up to investigate the expected growth in global markets for environmental goods and services over the next 20 years.

Impetus Trust, the venture philanthropy charity, has entered a four-year partnership with international development organisation Camfed. Impetus will contribute £450,000 of infrastructure funding to Camfed and has pledged to help develop a model for long-term growth.

Send a Cow has won the Yahoo! award for best charity website with its interactive cartoon site www.cowforce.com. Aimed at children, the site has a distinctive computer game design, with cartoon cows, goats and chickens pictured alongside families in rural Africa.
