BTCV, the environmental volunteering charity, and insurance firm Zurich have introduced a risk management category at the annual Green Hero Awards.

The Zurich Risk Management Award is open to the 2,000 community groups that are part of BTCV's network.

Coin Street Community Builders, a social enterprise that has developed property on London's south bank, has launched a family support programme that will offer workshops and practical courses for parents. The scheme, which will start in March, will be held in Coin Street's family and children's centre.

Ed Miliband, minister for the third sector, visited three social enterprises in the south west last week to see how they were providing career opportunities for young people. The minister went to Cosmic, an IT organisation, Fifteen Cornwall, one of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's restaurants that trains young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the Eden Project.

Community Action Network, the organisation that helps develop social enterprises, is moving to new premises in Loman Street, south-east London. Like the Mezzanine building at 1 London Bridge, it will provide office space for charities and social enterprises.
