The Charity Finance Directors' Group (CFDG) plans to launch its online charity management toolkit, the Charities Resource Network, in early December.
The web site will offer best practice guidance, policy documents and performance indicators on finance, human resources and IT issues. It is aimed at senior managers as well as finance directors.
Speaking at the CFDG annual dinner this month, chairman of trustees Geoff Miller said: "The site will allow our members and those from other charities who subscribe, to share documents and knowledge in a way which has never been possible before.
In the light of the Strategy Unit report, it is essential for the sector to be more willing to share its knowledge and expertise for the benefit of us all," said Miller.
"We are confident that the Charities Resource Network will be a major step forward in helping to achieve this objective."
