The Charity Finance Directors' Group (CFDG) has begun work on an information database to improve management in the sector.
The Charities' Resource Network will offer best practice guidance, policy documents and performance indicators to senior managers within the charity and not-for-profit sector. It will encompass information on human resources and IT issues as well as a core of finance-related content.
CFDG has chosen database specialists ProTech Computer Systems to provide the software and design for the web site. CFDG's director Shirley Scott said: "We are delighted that this project is progressing and welcome the support we are receiving in the development and population of the database. We aim to supply a 'toolkit' for those working in charities and complement the existing information available in the sector."
Members of CFDG will have full access to the site, while the general public will be able to view some parts of it. Charities that are not members of CFDG will also be able to join the network, and access certain sections of the site.
Susan Brownrigg, who is managing the project for CFDG, said: "Some finance directors at these charities also have IT and HR functions. We want to provide information not just for their main responsibility but also their secondary responsibility."
