Finance News: Charity Bank gives refurbishment loan to disability centre

A £250,000 loan from Charity Bank has enabled the Disability Times Trust to refurbish a centre offering employment support to people with disabilities.

The building, in Ealing, West London, is twice the size of the charity's previous premises and will offer training, information and counselling to 90 disabled and disadvantaged people a day, when it opens later this month.

Facilities include six classrooms dedicated to employment training, an interactive job search area, offices, a social area and cafe. Courses in interview and telephone techniques, and English as a second language, will also be offered.

The trust's manager, Ian Whitehead, said: "We couldn't have set up this new centre without the loan from Charity Bank. They understood our vision and really encouraged us to make it happen."

The bank has now made loans worth more than £7m to charities and other non-profit organisations since its launch last year.
