Finance News: DTI plans web suite of services to help social enterprises

The Department for Trade and Industry is planning new online services for social enterprises.

It wants enterprises to contribute to an online survey and discussion forum that aims to understand their information needs.

The results will be used to shape future online services to the sector.

Jonathan Bland, chief executive of the Social Enterprise Coalition said: "Improving access to information is a fundamental objective of the coalition.

We are supporting this work with the DTI as an important step to building the capacity of social enterprises. We urge social enterprises to contribute their ideas."

Consultations have already taken place with selected enterprises. The research revealed that organisations wanted an information portal linked to all information relevant to social enterprises.
