FINANCE NEWS: Enterprising idea

The Lord Provost of South Lanarkshire Alan Dick officially opened the offices of South Lanarkshire Volunteering Enterprise (SoLVE) last week. The move was financed by a £20,000 loan from voluntary-sector loan Social Investment Scotland. SoLVE offers volunteering opportunities to young people in the area, which suffers from a youth unemployment rate of 14 per cent, to help them gain practical employment skills. Dick is pictured with SoLVE head officer Moira McGuire and David Herd of Social Investment Scotland. Scott Anderson, chief executive at Social Investment Scotland, said: "SoLVE is doing excellent work to tackle youth unemployment in the South Lanarkshire area and this move will allow the organisation to meet its aims more effectively."
