Finance News: National award for social enterprise to lift cap on turnover

Enterprising Solutions, the National Social Enterprise Award, has this year been extended to charities that run successful social enterprises with a turnover greater than £3m.

Enterprises that operate in rural and environmental fields are also eligible, in recognition of the support of Defra and to extend the scope of the award.

Enterprising Solutions is run by the Social Enterprise Coalition in partnership with Natwest/RBS and the DTI's Small Business Service.

Although the £3m turnover cap has been removed this year, smaller enterprises will remain strong contenders for the top slots. The judging panel will be chaired by Andrew Robinson MBE, head of community development banking at Natwest/RBS.

Last year's award was won by the Pack-IT Group. This year's winner will receive £10,000 and four runners-up £5,000 each. See
