Finance news: NCVO serves up double portion of finance tips

Two new resources offering advice on finance and sustainable funding have been launched by the NCVO.

A website created by the NCVO's Sustainable Funding Project is designed to encourage non-profit bodies to explore and exploit a full range of funding and financing options. The site, at, will direct users to a range of income sources, from funding to earning.

Sarah Flood, project officer at the Sustainable Funding Project, said: "Too often, sustainable funding is seen as a question of improving fundraising or locating one continual source of income.

"The new site offers ideas, information and sources of practical support for organisations wanting to broaden their income base and explore sustainable funding."

The NCVO has also published a third edition of its popular finance publication, The Good Financial Management Guide.

The guide covers structuring an organisation for financial strength, budgeting, resource management, charity accounts and financial management, and tax.

There is also a section focusing on the specific issues faced by smaller voluntary organisations. It aims to help those that don't have the resources to employ financial specialists to run their finances effectively and well.
