Finance News: NICVA online portal to be a commerce and reference site

The Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action is to develop an online 'yellow pages' directory for the sector in the province.

The umbrella body has received funding from the Government's economic development agency, Invest NI, to develop a web portal for the Northern Ireland voluntary and community sectors.

The portal is intended to become the first port of call for anyone wanting to interact with the sector.

The site, which is due to be launched in March next year, will offer any not-for-profit organisation the opportunity to put up their information.

It will also act as an e-commerce website, providing facilities for online transactions, such as donations and bookings for relevant conferences and events.

Nicva's research and policy statements such as the State of the Sector and its policy manifesto will also be on the site and it will host online surveys.
