FINANCE NEWS: Research service issues guide to SRI and ethical funds

The Ethical Investment Research Service has launched a guide to socially responsible (SRI) and ethical investment funds.

The Guide to Ethical Funds lists all SRI funds available to UK investors including summaries of each fund's ethical policies and its top 10 share holdings.

"The Ethical Investment Research Service has pulled together the details of the 60 or so ethical funds available into one easy-to-use guide. The end result is a tool that will save countless time for the concerned investor,

said public information and advice manager Yo Fung.

The guide includes details on SRI issues, including animal testing and companies operating in countries with oppressive regimes.

The value of ethical funds now stands at £4 billion, compared with £318 million at the beginning of the 1990s. There are now 469,000 ethical fund investors, according to the research service.
