FINANCE NEWS: Scottish loan body forms ambassador role to help take-up

Voluntary-sector loan body Social Investment Scotland (SIS) and SCVO have recruited 30 "ambassadors

to raise awareness of loan funding among charities and voluntary groups.

The ambassadors will organise events and provide information about loan finance in their local area. SIS chief executive Scott Anderson said: "We are looking for people who can get the message across that loan finance is a viable additional source of finance for many voluntary organisations.

Part of the brief of the ambassadors is to address the concerns and reservations people may have about loan finance. We aim to do this by providing them with all the facts, information and support they need to make an informed decision about its potential."

SIS, a partnership between Scotland's four largest clearing banks and the Scottish Executive, was launched in September last year.

It has so far received enquiries about loans totalling £5 million.
