Finance News: Zurich launches kit to identify value of public service work

Zurich Municipal Management Services has launched a guide for organisations carrying out public services.

Project Toolkit is designed to help managers decide where a project really can deliver benefits to the community, how to make the best use of resources and how to solve problems in time.

According to the Office of Government Commerce, 60 per cent of all major projects realise no overall benefit.

Tilden Watson, acting senior partner at Zurich, said: "Project Toolkit introduces concepts common to the private sector but which are not always widely embedded in the public sector. Public service organisations are under increasing scrutiny and pressure to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget. The consequences of failure can have far-reaching implications. Our toolkit seeks to ensure those consequences never happen."

The guide is augmented by input from Zurich's consultants who visit organisations to present modules to staff.
