Finance: Zurich targets charities with insurance handbook

Helen Warrell

Insurance company Zurich has produced a handbook to advise third sector organisations on what insurance options they should pursue.

Making Insurance Simple poses five questions to help charities and voluntary sector groups decide their insurance requirements. The questions relate to employees, volunteers, property and contents, the public and trustees, and motor vehicles.

Paul Emery, head of charities and voluntary sector at Zurich, said: "This is our first move to inform the sector about insurance and risk management.

"Based on our current understanding of third sector groups, insurance is often organised by those who are not necessarily insurance experts, and we know that it can be a complicated process.

"By being better informed, charities will be able to make choices. We intend that this guide should be used and referenced rather than being left on a shelf."
