'Find a volunteer' service for NGOs

Mathew Little

VSO has launched a 'Find a Volunteer' service for international development charities.

For a charge of between £600 and £1,600, NGOs will be able to draw on a database of 3,700 skilled volunteers for assignments lasting from a few weeks to a few months.

The service has developed out of VSO's merger last year with short-term volunteering agency Beso.

Children's charity Plan UK is the first organisation to use the Find a Volunteer Service, recruiting a broadcasting professional to work in Sierra Leone.

VSO has also appointed Judith Brodie as its new UK group director. Previously the chief executive of the Impetus Trust, Brodie will have responsibility for communications, fundraising and volunteer recruitment.
