A picture of a young man teaching people to breakdance is one of the shortlisted entries of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations' latest photography competition for members.

It was entered by the youth volunteering organisation v and was taken last year during its Summer of Give campaign, which was established to highlight the different types of activity that volunteering can include.

An entry by Victim Support was announced as the winning picture at the NCVO's annual conference last week. The charity will receive a cheque for £100 to help with its work to support people affected by crime.

Martyn Lewis, chair of the NCVO, said: "The quality of entries has been fantastic all round. The photographs clearly convey and highlight the important work voluntary and community organisations are doing up and down the country to build a good society."
