The World Social Forum returns to the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre after moving to India last year. The event is a gathering of social movements, NGOs, trade unions and other civil society organisations that discuss alternatives to globalisation
- Around 3,300 organisations have registered, and 2,100 events, seminars, workshops and meetings have been organised
- The Arab NGO Network for Development will participate, proposing three workshops
- The main theme will be human rights and 'equality for a fairer world', with more than 2,000 activities registered.
