A chance to explore the areas where these key audiences are out of touch with the realities of modern charities and what delegates can do to make a difference.
Parliamentary privilege What role can MPs and peers play in getting your organisation's message across? Should you have strong relationships with local MPs? Is it worth attending party conferences? This workshop provides the answers.
The future of fundraising Issues such as public trust and confidence, benchmarking, accountability and changes to regulation are already shaping the form that fundraising will take in the next five to 10 years. This session will review the latest research and consider what the future holds.
THE BIG LOTTERY FUND
This workshop will explore the creation of the new distributor and the relationships the Big Lottery Fund has with Government and its wider stakeholders.
The fund's new portfolio of programmes will also be discussed.
How the Charity Commission will regulate public fundraising
An overview of how the Charity Commission will approach the regulation of public fundraising when the Charities Bill is introduced, followed by discussion and feedback on what this will mean in practice.
Fundraising, marketing and communication professionals responsible for a budget of more than £500,000 per year are eligible to attend the forum free of charge as a guest of Third Sector.
Accommodation and meals (excluding drinks) are complimentary. Places are limited to 50 delegates, so you must reply early to secure a place.
One-to-one supplier meetings
A selection of the sector's finest suppliers will be available for exclusive one-to-one meetings. Delegates will be able to select the suppliers they would like to meet before the event. Suppliers will be informed about delegates' interests and background so that they can provide tailored information and assistance.
The charity practitioners, academics and industry experts speaking at this year's event include: Helen Donoghue, director, Charities' Tax Reform Group; Alan Gosschalk, fundraising director, Shelter; Sophie Livingstone, head of policy and communications, The Foyer Federation; Adrian Sargeant, professor of non-profit marketing and fundraising, Bristol Business School; Stephen Dunmore, chief executive, Big Lottery Fund; and Zoe Willems, senior policy adviser, Charity Commission.
Alan Gosschalk was previously head of fundraising at the RNID and head of marketing at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. He is now leading a coalition of charity executives on a project to look into ways of boosting public trust and confidence in charities and fundraising.
Helen Donoghue is director of the Charities' Tax Reform Group, which regularly lobbies government on behalf of its 400 charity members. The group has played a leading role in securing tax reliefs and has negotiated £300m of VAT concessions a year for charities.
Adrian Sargeant is the UK's only professor of non-profit marketing and fundraising. He has written numerous books and research reports on fundraising and philanthropy. He recently established the charityfacts.org website to inform the public about charities and fundraising.
