Foundation braced to take over Giving Nation this summer

The Citizenship Foundation will take over Giving Nation, the youth programme of the Giving Campaign, which is to disband in June.

The Home Office and the DfES have promised funding to enable the programme, set up to boost charity awareness among young people, to run until June 2006.

The schools programme provides free resources to teachers of the citizenship curriculum. After its first year, Giving Nation materials were sent to more than half of all secondary schools across the UK.

The foundation aims to help people engage in their communities through education about law, democracy and society. Chief executive Tony Breslin said he was thrilled to be taking forward "the definitive charity resource for secondary schools".
